The Democratic National Committee (DNC) has modified its internal rules to pave the way for Kamala Harris to become an official presidential candidate.
Voting for presidential nomination by delegates will be conducted virtually from August 1-7.

The convention, scheduled for August 19-22 in Chicago, will be key to defining the Democratic Party’s platform.
During the convention, Kamala Harris will give her acceptance speech alongside her running mate.
Kamala Harris is expected to name her Vice President in the next two weeks.
Among the most mentioned candidates are Senator Mark Kelly and Governors Josh Shapiro and Roy Cooper.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear is also being discussed as a possible vice presidential candidate, EFE reported.
The amendment to the regulations seeks to ensure a smooth and efficient process in the absence of other applicants.
This will allow Kamala Harris to begin her campaign with the full support of the party.
The new regulations also reflect the DNC’s ability to adapt to current circumstances.
In the current climate, Harris has demonstrated leadership capable of unifying the party around her candidacy.
With this move, the Democrats hope to ensure their continued power for another four years.
