A tragic mass shooting has left numerous people shot and injured, with confirmed deaths, during the Juneteenth festival celebration in Texas.

The incident occurred on Saturday night at Old Settlers Park, located in Round Rock, about 19 miles north of Austin.

Authorities reported that the shooting left 2 dead and several injured.

The victims were shot just before 11 PM last Saturday, amid the June 16 festivities.

Round Rock Police Chief Allen Banks provided details during a press conference at the scene.

According to reports, the incident occurred when two groups got involved in a brawl near the vendors’ area while the Juneteenth festival was in full swing.

Witnesses say that during the fight, someone pulled out a gun and started shooting, according to The Associated Press.

At least two people died, and several others were injured. However, later reports suggest that the number of fatalities has increased to two.

The shooting took place near the vendor area, away from the main concert stage. Police officers and fire department personnel present at the event acted quickly.

They immediately began providing emergency medical care to the multiple injured victims. These victims were later transported to local hospitals for further treatment.

The shooter was detained by authorities, as confirmed by the police chief. This event has left the Round Rock community in shock and sorrow.

Juneteenth, which commemorates the end of slavery in the United States, is a significant holiday for many.
