The case of Melitón Santoyo Jaramillo

The Norwalk resident, according to investigations, would have gained the trust of the victims by posing as a gardener.
When he entered the homes of the elderly women, he allegedly subdued them and later proceeded to sexually assault them.
The first two complaints against the Hispanic man date back to August 2023.
The two alleged attacks occurred in a neighborhood between Bellflower Boulevard and Wardlow Road, investigators detailed in a press release sent to MundoNow.
He pretends to be a gardener

The last victim claimed that she was allegedly attacked by the gardener on February 22, 2024, in the area of Bellflower Boulevard and Wardlow Road, in Los Angeles County, California.
In the description of the alleged aggressor, the complainants explained that he was a man with Hispanic features and that he worked for them on the beautification of their gardens.
The officers did not offer more details about how the attacks occurred or how the women met the worker.
The case was presented to the Municipal Prosecutor’s Office, who issued an arrest warrant.
The modus operandi

On April 8, 2024, detectives from the Special Investigations Detachment arrested the suspect Jaramillo in the City of La Mirada, the authorities state in their report.
The Hispanic man was transported to the Long Beach city prison. According to jail records, he was charged with three counts of sexual assault against elderly women.
During his court appearance, the judge in charge denied him conditional release on bail.
And he dismissed one of the charges against him, apparently, because one of the alleged victims had doubts during the lineup.
