According to EFE News Agency, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has acknowledged the desperation and anguish of thousands of families affected by the recent torrential rains.
The natural disaster has so far claimed 64 lives and left 65 people missing across five states in central Mexico.
At least 100,000 homes have been damaged by the widespread flooding and landslides, prompting the federal government to mobilize large-scale emergency operations.
President Sheinbaum promised that her administration will “reinforce federal assistance” and provide immediate support to those affected.

The government confirmed that the most affected states are Veracruz, Hidalgo, Puebla, and Querétaro.
Authorities have verified 64 fatalities through official state attorney offices, while 65 people are still unaccounted for in rural or isolated communities.
Rescue brigades continue to search through mudslides and debris in remote areas, facing significant challenges due to collapsed roads and communication outages.
Historic Rainfall with No Recent Precedent

According to Civil Protection, the torrential rains occurred between October 6 and 9, dumping more than 1,800 millimeters of water in just four days.
That’s half of the region’s annual rainfall.
Meteorologists attribute the flooding to converging storm systems from both the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico.
They were intensified by nearby hurricanes.

Military and civilian brigades are conducting rescue and reconstruction efforts.
While thousands of volunteers help in collection centers and the cleaning of damaged homes.
The Mexican Navy has warned that rivers and hillsides remain oversaturated, increasing the risk of further landslides.
President Sheinbaum has announced emergency funding and the launch of a rapid reconstruction plan to restore critical infrastructure in the Mexican states affected by the floods.
Government Promises Full Support for Victims
Sheinbaum confirmed that she will personally visit the hardest-hit regions in Hidalgo and Querétaro to oversee relief efforts.
She also stated that she has requested a meeting with the Ministry of Finance to allocate additional resources for rebuilding homes, roads, and public facilities.
Authorities are conducting a household damage census to distribute financial aid and relocate families still at risk from unstable terrain.
“No one will be left without help,” Mexico President Claudia Sheinbaum assured, while urging patience given the magnitude of the floods tragedy.
