The program is primarily aimed at migrants without legal status who are married to U.S. citizens.
This announcement comes in an election year where migration is a key issue for voters.
Submission of Applications for Permanent Residency With the Migrant Regularization Plan
Starting August 19, interested individuals can submit their applications for permanent residency without leaving the country.
President Joe Biden coincided this announcement with a visit to Las Vegas, Nevada.
In Nevada, 1 in 5 voters is Hispanic, according to NALEO.
The plan utilizes a legal figure called «parole,» a temporary permission to stay in the U.S.
This migrant regularization offers protection against deportation and the possibility of obtaining a work permit.
Migrants married to U.S. citizens can apply for residency without leaving the country.
