According to the agency EFE, more than 80 protesters were arrested this Saturday during “No Kings” demonstrations in the United States, according to local authorities.
Most of the arrests occurred in Los Angeles, where local media reported more than 70 people detained after a protest that gathered tens of thousands in downtown.
During the day, some protesters threw rocks and bottles at police, leading to an escalation in the authorities’ response.
The Los Angeles Police Department issued a dispersal order near the Metropolitan Detention Center.
Officers used tear gas and pepper balls to control the crowd.
Authorities also stated they have recordings of individuals who allegedly assaulted officers during the protest.
Detentions also reported in Denver, Dallas, and Portland

The arrests were not limited to California, as detentions were also reported in other cities.
In Denver, Colorado, at least eight people were arrested during the demonstrations.
In Portland, Oregon, local media reported at least two additional arrests.

“No Kings” movement gains national momentum

The protests are part of the third day of actions by the “No Kings” movement, which has achieved large-scale mobilization across the country.
According to organizers, at least eight million people participated in more than 3,300 protests across all 50 states.
The coalition behind the movement is made up of around 400 groups, including Amnesty International, Indivisible, labor unions, and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).
Organizers stated that this turnout surpassed previous demonstrations by the same movement.
In October, they reported seven million participants in 2,700 events.
In June 2025, the figure was five million protesters across 2,100 locations.
Participants denounced what they describe as an “illegal war” initiated by Trump a month ago in Iran.
They also pointed to economic impacts such as rising fuel prices and inflation.
Additionally, they reiterated criticism of alleged abuses by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The main mobilization took place in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
In that city, tens of thousands gathered amid national outrage against ICE and the Border Patrol.
The protest is linked to the deaths of US citizens Renee Good and Alex Pretti in January, further amplifying the significance of the No Kings movement.
