Christian Nodal and Ángela Aguilar decided to put their religious wedding plans on hold, nearly two years after their controversial civil marriage.
The couple had planned to hold the ceremony this May, but a violent incident in Zacatecas changed everything.
Nodal himself confirmed the decision in an interview, making it clear that the security situation directly influenced the decision to postpone their wedding.
“Yes, it’s going to be postponed,” the singer said when asked about the future of the event.
The scare that changed everything
The plan was to marry in Zacatecas, a place deeply connected to the Aguilar family.
However, an armed confrontation near the family ranch raised serious concerns.

“We want it to be in Zacatecas and just recently, something almost exploded near me, right there in the car,” Nodal said.
The incident occurred in mid-February, when the couple was caught in the middle of a clash between police and a suspected criminal group.
Fear, taking cover, and security
The singer acknowledged it was one of the most intense moments they have experienced together.
“My wife was very scared; I had to throw myself to the ground,” he recalled about their immediate reaction.
Nodal said they managed to escape unharmed thanks to the quick response of their security team.
“The bodyguards did a great job and everything turned out fine, thank God…” he added.
Christian Nodal’s love in the middle of turmoil
Amid ongoing public scrutiny of their relationship, Christian Nodal took a moment to express his feelings for Ángela.
“For me, Ángela truly lives up to her name. To me, she is an angel,” he said.
The couple has not announced a new date or details about when or where they will resume the religious ceremony, keeping the Nodal-Aguilar wedding postponed.
For now, both have chosen to focus on their respective careers and musical projects.
Security concerns and controversy for Aguilar and Nodal
Nodal also spoke about the broader situation in Zacatecas and other parts of Mexico.
“Of course, I’m waiting for the government to act so the state becomes safer,” he said with concern.
The singer emphasized his strong connection to the region and to the Aguilar family.
“It’s a shame… the food is amazing, life is beautiful there…” he said, making it clear that his desire to marry in Zacatecas remains, even if it now depends on improved conditions.
