The Premier of Ontario, Doug Ford, blamed Donald Trump for a potential economic recession.
Ford stated that, should the economy slow down, it will be «Trump’s recession.»
The Canadian leader reacted after the announcement that the U.S. will double tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum.
Starting tomorrow, these products will be subject to a 50% tariff.
Trump Responds on Truth Social, Doug Ford Warns of Further Increases

Trump justified the measure on his social network, Truth Social.
The former president claimed it is a response to a 25% increase in the price of Canadian electricity exported to the US.
Ontario’s decision aims to generate between 300,000 and 400,000 Canadian dollars daily.
Ford warned he might further increase the price if Trump continues the trade war.
The rise affects 1.5 million households in New York, Michigan, and Minnesota.
The Ontario Premier stated he was forced to make this decision.

He reiterated that he will not hesitate to cut off the supply if the tariffs continue to harm Canada.
«I want to send more electricity to our allies and best neighbors,» said Ford.
However, he emphasized that he will protect Canadian families from Trump’s policies.
