Oran Alexander Routh, the son of Ryan Routh—who is accused of attempting to assassinate former president Donald Trump—has been arrested on federal charges of possessing child pornography.
Oran, 35, was taken into custody in Greensboro, North Carolina, after hundreds of child exploitation files were discovered on his electronic devices.
Initially, the investigation was not related to any child exploitation crimes, according to the criminal complaint.
The FBI arrived at Oran’s residence as part of an ongoing investigation into his father, Ryan Routh, 58, who was detained for attempting to assassinate Trump.
Ryan Routh Arrested Near Trump’s Golf Course

Ryan Routh was arrested on September 15 after being found with a weapon near the golf course where Trump was playing.
The former president was unharmed in the incident.
During a search of Oran’s home, several electronic devices were confiscated, including a Samsung Galaxy Note 9.
After obtaining a search warrant, investigators discovered videos of child pornography on an SD card from the device.
The FBI also found a second device containing explicit content, which was described in detail by the investigating agents.
Oran Routh has a prior criminal record, including arrests in 2015 and 2016 for driving under the influence and assaulting a woman.

Ryan Routh remains in custody awaiting trial on federal weapons charges and could face more severe accusations.
