«It is an honor to be part of the Tigres lineage, at any time, there can’t be a number two without there first being a number one,» he expressed last year in an interview.

Even then, Salvador emphasized the significance of Tigres in his life: «So the team is number two at the moment, but we were the first.»

«I feel incredibly proud of the people who are here now, who have built a formidable team,» he remarked during one of those conversations with ABC Sports in March 2022.

Club Deportivo Unión De Curtidores also took to social media to bid farewell to Salvador Carrillo, acknowledging his contributions to their history.

«The Unión De Curtidores Sports Club laments the painful passing of Salvador Carrillo, former player of the fierce ‘Garra Curtidora’ during the 1974-75 season. A historic figure of our Mexican football!» the club statement read.

«He represented the colors of Curtidores for one season in 1974-75. He was part of the inaugural classic against León on November 10, 1974, which ended in a memorable 4-4 draw,» shared another user.

Additionally, Chava took on the role of a coach, leading the Jabatos de Nuevo León to a championship in the Second Division B during the 1980s.
