Businessman and His Daughter Die in Shooting in Mexico
A shooting in Guadalajara left three people dead and several others injured after an armed attack in a residential area.

According to reports from the EFE news agency, an armed attack occurred in a residential area of Guadalajara, where a businessman was intercepted while traveling in a sports car with his teenage daughter.
According to state authorities, armed men traveling in a pickup truck opened fire directly on the businessman’s vehicle in the middle of a public street.
The incident took place in the afternoon and prompted a rapid mobilization of emergency responders and security forces in the affected area.
The attack alarmed nearby residents, who reported multiple gunshots and prolonged moments of tension during the assault.

The businessman was traveling with security guards who were moving in vehicles separate from the one targeted by the attackers.
After the attack on the businessman began, the escorts returned fire, leading to an armed confrontation that lasted several minutes.
Witnesses stated that the exchange of gunfire was intense, with constant shots heard across several nearby streets.
The shooting ended when the attackers managed to flee the scene, leaving several people injured and two dead at the site—another grim episode tied to Guadalajara.

The businessman, preliminarily identified as Alberto, known as “El Prieto,” died at the scene along with one of his security guards due to the injuries sustained.
The businessman’s underage daughter was critically injured and rushed to a hospital for specialized medical care.
Hours later, the Fiscalía de Jalisco confirmed the teenager’s death due to the severity of her injuries.
Four additional security guards remain hospitalized, one of them in serious condition, according to state authorities.
Official Investigation into the Guadalajara Shooting and Search Operation

The Jalisco Prosecutor’s Office reported that the businessman was a merchant at the Abastos Market and that the motive behind the armed attack is under investigation.
As part of the initial proceedings, authorities are verifying the identities and backgrounds of the security personnel involved.
The Secretary General of Government of Jalisco confirmed that two vehicles allegedly linked to the attack have been seized.
In addition, a coordinated operation with federal authorities has been deployed to locate those responsible of the Guadalajara shooting by land and air.
Context of Violence and Urban Security
The attack occurred during the winter holiday period, when a significant portion of the population is on vacation.
It also comes less than six months before Guadalajara is set to be one of the host cities for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The incident has raised concerns about security in residential areas of the city, particularly in high-traffic neighborhoods.
Authorities stated they will continue providing updates as investigations progress and official results become available, amid ongoing attention to the shooting in Guadalajara, Mexico.
