The Democratic National Convention kicks off today Monday, August 19 in Chicago after a few ‘crazy’ weeks in which the party changed its candidate.
Democrats have reframed their general election fight against Republican nominee and former President Donald Trump.
The convention will continue until Thursday 22nd with televised speeches and activities every night during prime time.
A full schedule has not yet been released, The Associated Press reported.
Who will participate in the Democratic National Convention?
Kamala Harris, her running mate Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Joe Biden are expected to speak during the week’s evening programming.
Also present will be former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, 2016 candidate Hillary Clinton, and former First Lady Michelle Obama.

The Democratic National Convention begins today Monday, August 19, and will be broadcast on more than a dozen platforms.
These include the convention’s website and social media platform X. For the first time in its history, vertical broadcasts will also be broadcast on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube.
Officials say there will be English and Spanish versions, sign language interpretation and an audio description service.
Democrats will gather at the United Center, home of the NBA’s Chicago Bulls and the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks.
The McCormick Place Convention Center will host event spaces and media briefing sessions,
Also, delegate caucus meetings and other gatherings.
It is expected that Kamala Harris accept her nomination on Thursday night, as is tradition at the Democratic National Convention.
Walz will accept his nomination as her running mate on Wednesday night. Biden will speak on Monday and the Obamas on Tuesday.
On September 10, less than three weeks after the Democratic convention concludes, Harris and Trump have a debate scheduled to be hosted by ABC News.
Walz and Vance have a debate scheduled for Oct. 1, and additional presidential and vice presidential debates may be scheduled.
