According to EFE, U.S. President Donald Trump received an award Wednesday from industry leaders recognizing him as the “undisputed champion of coal.”
The event took place at the White House.
During the ceremony, Trump directed the Department of Defense to purchase electricity generated by coal-fired power plants.
The recognition was presented by business leaders who are members of the Washington Coal Club.
Trump, who has denied climate change and often describes coal as “clean and beautiful,” accepted the award before representatives of the sector.
The distinction consisted of a statue of a miner.
The award was presented by James Grech, chief executive officer of Peabody Energy.
Industry Award and Defense of Coal

During his remarks, Trump defended his record in support of the coal industry.
“I have already saved 74 coal power plants from restrictions and closures,” the Republican president declared.
He also announced that the Tennessee Valley Authority will rescue two additional plants that were slated for shutdown.

The president used the event to reiterate his backing of the coal industry as an energy pillar.
The ceremony reinforced his administration’s message in favor of this fuel.
Trump also took the opportunity to contrast his energy policy with that of the previous Democratic administration.
Criticism of Biden and Wind Energy

The president criticized former President Joe Biden (2021–2025).
According to Trump, during that period “not a single permit was approved for a new coal mining project.”
He also criticized wind energy.
He said he does not like “those crazy windmills that are made in China, but that China does not use.”
His remarks reinforced his critical stance toward certain renewable energy sources.
The speech focused on presenting coal as a reliable alternative compared to other energy sources.
Trump Signs Executive Order and There’s a Shift in Climate Policy
After receiving the award, Trump signed a Trump coal industry executive order.
The directive instructs the Pentagon to prioritize coal-based electricity generation.
His administration considers coal a “strategic and reliable” energy source to strengthen national security.
Since returning to the White House last year, Trump has taken steps that alter the course of U.S. climate policy.
He has withdrawn the United States from the Paris Climate Agreement.
He has also dismantled clean energy policies previously implemented.
The president announced that this Thursday he will revoke the ruling that designates certain greenhouse gases as harmful to health.
The recognition he received at the White House occurred amid this renewed push for the coal industry.
The ceremony symbolized the support of business sectors for the energy measures adopted by the president.
