  • Minimum Cost of the New US Gold Card: One Million Dollars
  • Three Modalities Available
  • Program Raises Legal Questions

US President Donald Trump launched a portal this Wednesday to apply for the new “Trump Gold Card.”

The document was presented as a mechanism to attract individuals interested in settling in the country in exchange for a substantial payment.

Trump said the program will offer privileges comparable to those of permanent residents.

The minimum announced cost is one million dollars per applicant.

Trump Gold Card: Official Launch

“THE TRUMP GOLD CARD OF THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT IS HERE!” the president posted on his Truth Social account.

He added that the portal would be available later that same afternoon.

During an appearance at the White House, Trump stated that this pathway offers a “stronger route” than the traditional green card.

He also said the new option is “much better,” reinforcing the goals of the Trump Gold Card program.

Three Modalities and Non-Refundable Fees

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick defended the program, claiming that those who currently obtain permanent residency earn less than the average American.

He also argued they are more likely to apply for public assistance.

According to Lutnick, the goal is to attract “the best.” The official website offers three participation options.

The individual card requires a payment of one million dollars.

The corporate option, aimed at companies seeking to retain or relocate foreign talent, raises the cost to two million dollars.

Both models include a non-refundable administrative fee of $15,000.

The government also launched the “Platinum Card.”

This premium version is priced at five million dollars.

The administration presents it as an alternative with additional benefits compared to the standard model.

“Major US companies can finally retain their valuable talent,” Trump wrote in another Truth Social post, referring again to the Trump Gold Card program.

Reactions and Links to the EB-5 Visa

The White House is defending the program as a tool to attract investment.

It is also promoting it as an incentive to draw highly qualified professionals.

Legal experts warn that its implementation could face regulatory challenges.

They also point to potential ethical concerns due to its similarity to “golden visa” schemes used in other countries.

The plan was initially presented as a possible replacement for the EB-5 visa.

That visa was created under the Immigration Act of 1990.

It allows foreign investors to obtain permanent residency in exchange for a substantial investment.

It also requires the creation of at least ten full-time jobs for US workers or immigrants with work authorization.
