The President of the United States, Donald Trump, accused a woman who died in Minneapolis on Wednesday of resisting law enforcement during an ICE immigration operation.

Trump claimed the driver obstructed agents’ work and blamed the “radical left” for the context surrounding the shooting.

The remarks followed the woman’s death after she was shot by an agent from Immigration and Customs Enforcement during a large-scale operation.

Trump reacted on his official Truth Social account just hours after the incident in Minnesota’s largest city.

“The driver behaved in a chaotic manner, resisting authority before brutally running over an ICE agent,” the president wrote.

According to Trump, the woman attempted to ram a federal agent during the immigration operation carried out in Minneapolis.

He added that such episodes occur due to constant attacks against law enforcement.

“These incidents happen because the radical left threatens and attacks our law enforcement officers and ICE agents on a daily basis,” he stated.

Trump did not directly reference the videos later shared on social media, nor did he address the public doubts that emerged regarding the exact sequence of events during the shooting.

What Authorities Reported

The Department of Homeland Security confirmed Wednesday the woman’s death during an ICE operation in Minneapolis.

According to DHS, agents were conducting a large-scale action when the confrontation occurred.

Authorities said a group of protesters attempted to block the immigration operation.

In the official statement, it was claimed that one of the protesters “used the woman’s vehicle.”

Under that version, the vehicle was allegedly used in an attempt to strike one of the agents.

During the incident, an ICE officer fired at the woman while she was inside her SUV.

The shot occurred as the driver attempted to flee the scene, according to the authorities’ account.

Videos, Reactions, and Context

Videos circulating on social media show the woman surrounded by ICE agents.

In the footage, officers are seen ordering her to exit the vehicle.

The videos do not show the vehicle striking an agent, as the president claimed.

After attempting to flee, one officer fires toward the driver’s window.

Seconds later, the SUV crashes into another parked vehicle several meters ahead.

The woman died following the impact and has not yet been publicly identified.

According to data compiled by The Trace, this would be the fifth death during immigration operations under Trump’s administration.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz addressed the shooting during a press conference.

Walz said the incident was “to be expected” given the large ICE deployment in the city and described it as “entirely preventable.”

Immigration raids in Minneapolis have intensified in recent months as part of a federal strategy to increase arrests of undocumented immigrants.

Authorities have placed particular emphasis on the Somali community, which has been harshly criticized by Trump.

This policy has generated recurring protests and heightened tensions between the federal government and community groups.

The shooting has deepened the debate over the use of force during immigration operations.

It also reignited criticism over the impact of these actions on local communities—keeping the ICE shooting in Minneapolis case at the center of national attention.
