Alberto Angulo López is facing charges of kidnapping and assault after an Uber customer accused him of groping her.
The 38-year-old Hispanic man was arrested on Tuesday, July 9, in Miami, Florida.
The investigation began in February 2023, when a 25-year-old woman filed a complaint against him.
It took authorities over a year to locate the suspect because the victim couldn’t recall many details about the driver or his car.

They arrived in a private car, but when they left, they found it had been towed.
This situation forced them to take an Uber, but one of them mistakenly entered the wrong vehicle, turning their ride into a dangerous ordeal.
The trip home should have taken only a few minutes, but when it took longer than expected, the passenger feared the worst.
In her sworn statement, the woman admitted she was intoxicated and struggled to stay awake.
She came to her senses when she felt Alberto Angulo López allegedly touching her private parts and breasts.
The passenger told officers she begged him to stop, but he ignored her.
Taking advantage of a moment of distraction, she sent her location to a friend who confirmed she was far from home.
She then threatened to call the police if he didn’t take her to her house in the Tamiami area, west of Miami-Dade.
The driver demanded $55 and drove her to the address of her ex-partner, the last location she provided.
Once alone, she sought help and reported the incident. Due to her intoxicated state, she could provide few details about the alleged assailant.
The information collected helped officers identify Alberto Angulo López as the prime suspect.
Eventually, Miami-Dade Police Department officers located him at his home and arrested him.
He remains in county jail, currently without bail or an attorney.
Officers presented electronic payment records for $55 and WhatsApp information as evidence against him.
