  • US judge blocks manual vote counting in Georgia.
  • This is reported by the EFE news media.
  • Here the details.

A judge has blocked the implementation of a controversial rule in Georgia that required manual vote counting for the November 5 general election, a key state in the American electoral landscape.

Circuit Judge Robert McBurney ruled that the rule, approved last month by the Georgia Board of Elections, could not be implemented in time for the next election.

This regulation, promoted by the conservative majority of the board and linked to former President Donald Trump, seeks to have election officials manually verify the ballots to ensure that they match the electronic tabulation.

Although McBurney has temporarily blocked the rule, he has not definitively dismissed its legality and will continue to evaluate its feasibility and merits in the future.

This decision comes amid growing concern, both from the Georgia Democratic Party and various organizations, about the potential impact of the rule on the integrity of the electoral process and the possibility of fraud.

The resolution was made public following McBurney’s ruling that the certification of election results in Georgia is a mandatory mandate for officials.

This contradicts the attempt by Julie Adams, a Republican on the Fulton County Board of Elections, to avoid this responsibility.

This decision could be historic for the state of Georgia.

Adams, who had refused to certify the results of the local primaries, had asked the judge for greater discretion in the certification process, a request that was denied.

This Tuesday, Georgia began its early voting period with record numbers, with more than 250,000 voters going to the polls, surpassing the previous record of 136,000 in the 2020 elections.

Also, this increase in early participation is crucial.

In addition, the state will be decisive in the race between Trump and the Democratic candidate, Vice President Kamala Harris.
