Authorities in Jalisco have cast doubt on the credibility of a statement circulated on social media that accuses Erika, an employee of Valeria Márquez, of being responsible for the shot that killed the influencer.
State Attorney General Salvador González de los Santos stated at a press conference on May 29 that the version presented by an alleged witness does not align with the evidence gathered so far.
“The person or witness who claims to have information… there are some inconsistencies that don’t quite add up,” González de los Santos told reporters.
The witness made her claims in an interview published on May 26 by the YouTube channel MafiánTV, which caused a stir and fueled speculation online.
Jalisco Prosecutor Questions Testimony Circulated on Social Media

In the video, a woman claims to have witnessed the murder of Valeria Márquez inside the beauty salon where the crime occurred, as reported by Univisión.
According to her testimony, a delivery man entered the salon and while he was retrieving something from his backpack, Erika — Valeria’s employee — allegedly pulled out a gun and fired three times.

“This Erika pulled out a gun and shot Valeria three times… just like that, one after another,” the woman said. When the interviewer asked if she was sure, the alleged witness insisted, “Yes, of course, it was her.”
In response to these serious accusations, the prosecutor’s office has asked the woman to come forward and formally testify.
Alleged Witness Points to Erika as Valeria Márquez’s Killer
“We would like her, if she truly has information, to be a bit more specific, to come to the prosecutor’s office—we will gladly receive her and take her statement,” said the state prosecutor.
He added that while content shared online is being reviewed, not everything circulating can be taken as reliable evidence.
“There’s a lot of information posted that, at times, could be distractions… but in the end, we can’t rule anything out,” González de los Santos explained.
The case continues to attract significant media and social media attention, especially since no arrests have been made in connection with Valeria’s murder.
Legal Defense Rejects Accusations Against the Employee
The influencer was killed under still-unclear circumstances, which has fueled online theories and unverified accusations.
In response to the accusation against her client, Erika’s lawyer, Jazmín Escamilla, refuted the account given by the supposed witness.
“Erika is innocent. She was at the scene because she had been hired by Valeria herself to do a manicure,” said Escamilla in a statement read by journalist Alex Rodríguez on the show ¡Siéntese Quien Pueda!.
The attorney also claimed that Erika has been a target of public shaming since the moment the crime became known.
Investigation into Valeria Márquez’s Murder Continues With No Arrests
The defense insists that their client has been unfairly accused without evidence, merely for being present at the scene. Meanwhile, the prosecutor’s office reported that 30 people connected to the case have already been interviewed.
In addition, multiple surveillance recordings have been reviewed—from both the C5 system and nearby businesses and properties.
Authorities say the investigation remains open and is progressing cautiously to avoid drawing premature conclusions.
Despite efforts to clarify what happened, Valeria’s family and followers continue to demand justice. Media pressure, online rumors, and the lack of judicial progress have complicated the case’s development.
For now, prosecutors have not confirmed any definitive leads and continue to explore all possible scenarios.
Authorities stress that anyone with relevant information should formally come forward to assist the investigation.
The case of Valeria Márquez remains under public scrutiny, as the search for truth and justice continues, Univisión reported.
