How can I vote? Massachusetts allows any registered voter to request a Vote by Mail Ballot for most elections. To apply, submit a signed application to your local election office online, by mail, email, or fax.
Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. on the 5th business day prior to Election Day. Once received and completed, return your ballot by mail, hand-delivery, early voting location drop-off, or ballot drop box.
Track your ballot status using the Secretary of the Commonwealth’s Track My Ballot tool.
For absentee voting, follow the same deadlines as Vote by Mail ballots. Eligibility includes being away from your city or town on Election Day, having a religious belief preventing voting at your polling location, or having a disability preventing voting at your polling location.
Election Day voting hours are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. for statewide elections, with some municipalities possibly opening polling places earlier.
