December 2024 will be remembered as the month when, after 40 years with Univision, Jorge Ramos will step down from leading the news division.

The Hispanic journalist announced his departure from the company, not because he was fired, but because his contract wasn’t renewed, ending their long relationship.

While many expected his departure to be immediate after the September announcement, Ramos will stay on until after the presidential election.

Ramos’ last major coverage for Univision will be the presidential election, where Trump and Kamala Harris are running against each other.

In a Univision video where Ramos himself announces his departure, people flooded the comments section.

The journalist is no stranger to controversy due to his viewpoints and criticisms. So much so that some people claim he is “avoiding” Trump and that’s why he’s leaving the network.

It’s worth noting that Ramos has had more than one confrontation with the Republican, the most memorable being when Trump had him removed from a press conference.

While Trump was president, Ramos put him “on the spot” many times, and for that reason, some believe this is why he’s leaving Univision.

Do People Not Want Him?

In the video, Jorge Ramos thanks Univision for four decades of work together, but people didn’t hold back in accusing him of various things.

“You got kicked out just like Trump kicked you out,” “Jorgito, you’re leaving because Trump is going to win in November,” “He’s retiring to speak badly about Trump,” “Go ahead, because Trump is coming back,” were some of the comments.

People continued: “Karma got you,” “He’s going to Venezuela or Brazil,” “He’s not leaving because he’s tired, he’s leaving because he knows Trump is going to win,” “You crashed into Trump’s wall,” they said.
