Preparations for the 2026 North America World Cup are moving quickly—and with them, fans’ growing doubts. Many already bought their tickets without knowing whether they will actually be allowed into the United States.
Ticket in hand = guaranteed entry? No.
This week, the U.S. government and FIFA announced that fans who already purchased tickets will receive priority scheduling for their visa appointment. However, Secretary of State Marco Rubio clarified:
“Your ticket is NOT A VISA; it does not guarantee entry into the United States.”

How long do appointments take?
Rubio explained that ticket buyers will get a priority appointment within 6 to 8 weeks, but the approval process remains identical to that of any other applicant.
“Do not wait until the last minute,” he warned.
Under normal circumstances, an appointment can take weeks—or even more than a year—depending on the country.
