Donald Trump confirmed that he will not attend the wedding of his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr, this weekend in the Bahamas.

“Although I greatly wished to be with my son, Don Jr, and the newest member of the Trump family, his future wife, Bettina, the circumstances related to Government, as well as my love for the United States of America, do not allow me to do so,” Trump wrote.
The Republican president insisted that he considers it important to remain in Washington during “this important period of time.”
The message concluded with congratulations for the couple. “Congratulations to Don and Bettina!” Trump added.

The confirmation came one day after the president spoke about the issue with reporters in the Oval Office.
On that occasion, he said he would try to attend the event, although he acknowledged that the international context complicated his plans.
Trump described the ceremony as “a very small, private event.” He also said it was “not a good time, because of Iran and other matters.”

During the conversation with the press, Trump also questioned the media reaction to his possible attendance or absence.
“It’s a situation where I have nothing to gain: if I attend, they destroy me; if I don’t attend, the ‘fake news’ destroys me,” he said.
The wedding between Donald Trump Jr and Bettina Anderson will take place this weekend in the Bahamas.
According to CNN, the ceremony will be held on a small island in the archipelago.
The guest list will be limited. The network indicated that around 50 family members and close friends of the couple will attend.
The engagement between Don Jr and Anderson was announced in December 2025.
The proposal took place at Camp David, the official presidential retreat.
Trump himself shared the news during a Christmas event held at the White House.
Don Jr maintains a key role in family businesses
Donald Trump Jr is the son of the U.S. president and Ivana Trump.
The former couple also had Eric Trump and Ivanka Trump.
After Donald Trump’s return to the White House, his two eldest sons took charge of the family business.
Don Jr has maintained an active profile within the business structure associated with the Trump name.
The wedding will take place while the president remains focused on foreign policy and national security matters.
Trump made it clear that, despite the family nature of the event, he considers it a priority to remain leading the Government at this time.
