MundoHispánico has changed its name to become MundoNow, speaking to the new generation of Latinos in the US who choose English instead of Spanish as their primary language and thus emerge as the largest bilingual digital media platform in the US.

This rebranding follows an evolution among US Latinos who choose English over Spanish as their primary language but, at the same time, are proud and loyal to their Latino heritage and who represent 55 percent of the new dominant Latino minority.

The main purpose of the transformation to MundoNow is to reach the 55 percent of the Latino population that identifies as bilingual and bicultural. In other words, those Latinos who prefer to communicate in English, since it is their primary language, but are still proud of, and loyal to, the Hispanic cultural heritage of their parents and grandparents who came to the United States from various Latin American countries.

In the words of René Alegría, CEO of MundoNow, «It is no secret that the Latino population in the United States is one of the dominant cultural forces of our nation, but what most do not know is that it is also changing radically.»

«Now we are MundoNow, a bilingual digital media powerhouse with a reach of 10 million people across the country each month,” says Alegría. “As parents raising their children, MundoNow is the culmination of a generation of Latino immigrants infusing their American children with cultural wisdom, tradition and pride,” adds the CEO.

“The name and format of our platform will reflect who we are producing content for and who connects with us,” says Alegría. «Today’s public expects much more than just information, they want to be inspired and participate.» Filed Under: MundoHispánico changes MundoNow.

The transformation to MundoNow did not happen overnight, but was something that began to take shape in 2018, when MundoHispánico was sold by Cox Media Group to a business group led in Atlanta by former state senator Sam Zamarripa.

In mid-2021, when the coronavirus pandemic was still at its peak in the United States and in several Latin American countries, including Mexico, MundoHispánico began publishing its original Spanish content in English too. These posts began to grow organically and currently generate almost two million unique views per month. Today it represents 20% of the total user base of MundoNow.
