- Jorge Luis Sucksdorf talks about the Mystery of Lago Colbún.
- The lake lost its water.
- Many say a UFO did it.
José Luis Sucksdorf tells us about a strange event where Lago Colbún, a lake in the south of Chile, near the Araucanía area, lost all its water.
In 2007, this lake, about ten square kilometers big, lost its water.
Soon after, Chile’s leaders said the water went away because of a crack in the bottom of the lake. They said the water went into the sea because of this.
But then, a man from Chile named Rodrigo Fuenzalida started looking more into it.
Mystery of Lago Colbún

He found stories from people who said they saw a UFO over the lake when the water went away.
Fuenzalida found out that many people saw a UFO over the lake when the water was gone.
This made many questions come up and made people think of many ideas.
Many people said they saw this UFO.
People who saw the UFO

More than thirty people said they saw the UFO when the water was going away.
Having many people say this makes it seem true, but some wonder if they really saw it or if it was just their eyes playing tricks.
Some leaders say the water went away because of the crack.
But not everyone believed this, and Rodrigo Fuenzalida decided to look more into the story.
Fuenzalida looks for answers

When Fuenzalida looked more, he didn’t find any crack in the bottom of the lake like the leaders said.
This made people doubt the idea of the crack and think maybe there’s another reason.
Other lakes nearby also lost water at different times. This makes people think there’s more to the story than just a crack.
So, why did the water go away at Lago Colbún and other lakes?
A mystery in Chile

We don’t know if UFOs did it, but many people said they saw a UFO, which is interesting.
When studying UFOs and strange events, sometimes what people say doesn’t match the simple reason given.
In times like this, it’s good to think about all ideas before deciding.
In the end, Sucksdorf says that we still don’t know the full story of Lago Colbún in Chile.
