Authorities in Gainesville County, Georgia, have arrested two young Hispanic men in Gainesville, accused of serious crimes related to child abuse.

The suspects have been identified as Delvis Josué Turcios García, 23, and Glevis Yoel Turcios García, 21.

Both were detained following an investigation that began when the alleged victim, a minor, disclosed the abuse to a schoolmate.

According to official reports, the girl, who is now 11 years old, was allegedly abused between the ages of 8 and 9.

Local police launched an investigation after receiving the testimony of the minor, who is a close relative of the suspects.

Authorities have filed charges of aggravated sexual assault and child abuse against both defendants.

Due to the severity of the charges, the court denied bail, meaning they will remain in Hall County Jail until trial.

According to court records, both suspects have an immigration detainer issued by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

This means that once their criminal proceedings are complete, they could be transferred to an immigration detention center and deported to El Salvador, their country of origin.

Local authorities reported that the brothers’ crimes date back to incidents that occurred between 2021 and 2023.

Lieutenant Kevin Holbrook, from the Gainesville Police Department, explained that such investigations can take years to resolve due to the difficulty of gathering evidence and testimonies.

According to the investigation, one of the suspects allegedly committed the abuse between June and December 2021, when the minor was 8 years old.

The other suspect allegedly continued the assaults between January 2022 and April 2023, when the victim was 9 years old.

The case has raised concern in Gainesville, where children’s rights organizations have emphasized the importance of reporting these crimes.

Police have urged anyone with additional information about the case to contact authorities to strengthen the prosecution.

This legal process remains ongoing, and trial dates are expected to be determined in the coming months, according to ‘Gainesville Times‘.
