Authorities in Nevada released bodycam footage capturing the minutes after the road-rage attack that claimed the life of 11-year-old Brandon Dominguez-Chavarría, who was simply on his way to school.
The video shows his stepfather crying, completely broken, as he screams that his son is dead and pleads for help on the highway.
A Road Rage Dispute That Ended in Tragedy

At 7:30 a.m. on November 14, two vehicles were moving through heavy traffic on Highway 215 in Henderson.
According to police, both drivers began fighting for the lane and trying to get ahead of each other.
In a matter of seconds, tension turned into violence.
The drivers rolled down their windows, exchanged insults, and at that moment, 22-year-old Tyler Matthew Johns pulled out a gun and fired a single shot toward the hybrid SUV where Brandon was riding with his stepfather. The bullet entered through the window and struck the child, who was seated in the back seat on his way to school — a shocking moment now tied to the road rage shooting tragedy.
The Stepfather’s Cry on the Highway

After the shot, Brandon’s desperate stepfather rammed the attacker’s vehicle to stop him. Both cars came to a halt in the middle of the road.
The two men got out and began yelling at each other… and then the most heartbreaking scene began.
Bodycam footage shows the stepfather completely beside himself — crying, shaking, devastated — while screaming:
“My son is dead!”
His pain is immediate, raw, and almost unbearable to hear. He tries to reach the car, tries to speak, tries to understand what has just happened. He clings to even the smallest hope, but he knows his child has suffered a fatal gunshot.
The man’s desperate cries reflect what police later described as “a loss that never should have happened.”
The Armed Driver Admits the Shot

The video also shows Tyler Johns, visibly shaken, approaching an officer passing by the scene.
— “I shot at him, bro…”
— “You shot at him?”
— “I didn’t know there was a f**ing kid in the back.*”
Handcuffed inside the patrol car, he repeats over and over that he didn’t know a child was in the vehicle and asks:
“Is there any chance the kid is okay?”
The officer responds:
“If you’re a man of faith… start praying.”
Brandon Dominguez-Chavarría Did Not Survive

Paramedics from the Henderson Fire Department quickly transported the boy to a nearby hospital. But despite medical efforts, Brandon Dominguez-Chavarría died shortly after.
He was 11 years old.
He was on his way to school.
He left his home expecting another normal day — but an impulsive, violent, and senseless act stole him from his family.
The community created a GoFundMe page in his memory, and the case has sparked outrage across Nevada.

The Mother Confronts the Killer

Days later, at the first court hearing, the boy’s mother looked at the accused and spoke directly to him:
“He wanted to take someone’s life. He took my son’s life. He was just on his way to school.”
Johns remains in custody without bail.
He is charged with homicide and shooting into an occupied vehicle — charges that underscore the severity of this road rage shooting tragedy.
