Texas singer murder-suicide shocks the community

A horrific scene shook Hidalgo County, Texas, after a Grupero singer from McAllen shot his wife inside a daycare center and then took his own life.

The incident occurred around 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Neni’s Childcare #2, located on the 1200 block of Stites Road in a rural area of Donna.

The aggressor: Saul Esquivel from La Nueva Generación

Authorities identified the victims as Saul Esquivel, 41, vocalist of the group La Nueva Generación, and Nubia Bravo, 26.

According to Sheriff Eddie Guerra, the couple had separated and were having ongoing conflicts over an alleged infidelity.

The events

Saúl Esquivel allegedly entered the building by force after spotting his estranged wife through a window.

Bravo managed to move the Grupero singer away from the area where five children were under care, running toward the back of the building, but he caught up with his wife and shot her to death.

The attacker then lay down next to her body and committed suicide.

Children safe but traumatized

Although the children were unharmed, they heard the gunfire.

The sheriff reported that all of them will receive psychological support to help them cope with the emotional trauma.

Domestic violence on the border

County authorities confirmed that the case is being treated as a domestic violence incident, a persistent issue that continues to claim lives in South Texas.

The investigation remains open under the supervision of the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Department.
